Trauma-Informed Addiction Therapy for Lasting Recovery and Healing

50 minIn-Person or Online

Service Description

Understanding Addiction: Addiction is rarely about the substances or behaviors such as porn and gaming. More often it’s a response to deeper emotional pain, unprocessed trauma, and a longing for connection. Seen through a lens of survival strategies and parts work, addiction often functions as a flight response- a way to escape emotions, memories, or experiences that once felt overwhelming and unbearable. I offer trauma-informed addiction therapy that supports lasting recovery by addressing the root causes of substance use and compulsive behaviors. Together we can utilize curiosity and compassion to explore how addiction has served and protected you-and begin discovering new, adaptive ways to meet those needs. How I work: My approach is integrative and personalized. I draw from: • Somatic Experiencing® • Sensorimotor Psychotherapy • Parts Work (IFS-informed) • Attachment-based therapy These approaches support healing through the body, emotions and nervous system. My Experience and Style: With extensive experience in crisis work, working along side treatment centers and sober livings and a deep understanding of trauma and recovery, I bring both: • Grounding presence • practical support … into the therapy room. When helpful I draw from: • DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) • CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) These tools support: • Emotional regulation • Coping strategies Always tailored, never one-size-fits-all. Respecting All Paths to Recovery : I respect and support multiple paths to recovery. Whether you’re: • connected to 12-step programs like AA • Exploring mindfulness-based approaches such as Refuge Recovery • Connecting with SMART Recovery • Working within a harm reduction framework - I’ll meet you where you are. Together we’ll work to: • Build sustainable change • Strengthen your sense of self • Support meaningful connection in your life Begin Your Journey: If you are in California or Montana and looking for a therapist who understands addiction, trauma, and the recovery journey —and who honors your unique path—I’d be honored to walk along side you.
